Medtec China 2022, the 17th International Exhibition on Medical Device Design and Manufacturing Technology, originally scheduled for August 31 to September 2 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center and organized by Informa Markets, has announced a new date and venue. China Food and Drug News: On the afternoon of July 18, the Symposium on the Implementation of Medical Device Unique Identification (UDI), a key event of the 2022 National Medical Device Safety Awareness Week, was held in Beijing. The symposium was hosted by the Medical Device Registration Administration Department of the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), with the Medical Device Standards Management Center and Information Center serving as co-organizers. A representative from NMPA's Medical Device Registration Administration Department delivered opening remarks. Representatives from medical device manufacturers, distributors, and healthcare institutions shared their experiences in implementing the Unique Device Identification (UDI) system. Provincial drug regulatory authorities presented updates on advancing UDI implementation within their respective regions. Additionally, NMPA's Information Center and Medical Device Standards Management Center provided updates on UDI database development, relevant standards, and ongoing technical research.
